Week 2

Today was an emotional roller coaster. (Not the smoothest ride)

I woke up today very early, with such high energy I went on a 5 mile (stationary) bike ride. Needless to say I felt very accomplished.

So Diane and I went to the clinic, and mail room where I got a package, I was so excited!

I went to school. It lasted 17 minutes. I go 3 hours a week.

Then I went to my "child life group visit" AKA group therapy for teens. It was fine while I was there. But afterwards, I've never felt worse in my life. After lots of complaining, crying, scriptures, prayers, and realizing I wasn't completely ready to talk about my feelings, I calmed down. It didn't help that no one besides me believed in anything. They were all so depressed. But Diane always has a way of making me feel better.

Lunch was so good! I love vegetables.

I moved today! To the Ronald McDonald house. I was terrified, but I like it here!

Tennessee drivers bring new definition to #prayersforrachel

Tomorrow I start chemo and radiation. So nervous, but it's time. I'm ready. It's going to be the longest day EVER! And I'll have an IV for the next 3 days I think. Here's my schedule.

Anyways, I'm exhausted!
Love you guys tons and tons. XOXO
Rach

  1. I have things to say but I don't want to share them on the blog. I'm sending you a private e-mail. Know that you will always be in our prayers and that I am continually amazed at your courage and strength.

  2. Bring stuff to do during radiation/chemo if you can, like movies, cards, word searches etc -my friends husband SURVIVED lukemia and on his first day he didn't know he'd be stuck in a room for hours with nothing to do...i still feel weird I comment here when i don't know you-I hardly ever comment in my friends blogs let alone a strangers...I guess I would want to know someone was rallying for me :)

  3. Rachel, I came across your story on Mindy from Cute Hairstyles Blog. I may not know you personally but just wanted to let you know that I will be praying for you! I'm a 28 year old mommy to 4 beautiful children ages 5, 4,2, and 1. I've read all of your post and for some reason felt SO compelled to comment on your blog (something I don't do). I pray that you will have a great night...remember... the Will of God will never take you where the grace of God will not protect you! I am praying for you!

  8. Rachel,
Your new friends in Memphis are praying for you as you start this journey. We're here for you--any time, any place--as you kick cancer's behind. You may be from Utah, but we've already claimed you and love you as our own!

  9. Hang in there girlie, life's being tough on you right now. Sometimes we don't know why we have trials, especially like this. A lady in the middle of her chemo treatment told me once that it got easier for her when she stopped asking why her and started asking what do you want me to learn from this. That might be helpful for you, but only you can know that. Maybe in time it will be easier to share the hope of the gospel with those who don't have it. But don't run faster than you're ready ;) I'm sure you know that too. You CAN do this girlie, we're praying for you. The veil is so thin, Christ is closer than you think so let him carry you when you don't have the strength until you do, and you will soon. Love ya.

  11. You're doing great girls. Your blog is an inspiration to me and many more. Your strength and spirit are felt. I ran across another quote for your "inspire me" jar. An old japanese saying,"Fall 7 times, get up 8."
You can do this Rachel and Diane!

  14. How in the world are you supposed to be in the Med Room from 11 am to 2 pm and also be at the E Clinic from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm? Don't your scheduling secretaries talk to each other?! ;-)

  15. Hi Rachel,
I am a longtime follower of Mindy's hairstyle blog, and an even longer supporter of St. Jude. I live in Memphis, and I am so pleased that you are here to receive treatment. St. Jude has such an impact on those whose lives have been touched by cancer. I have a 17 year old son... I can only imagine how your mama feels. I am so impressed with your strength, courage and faith. I will be following your journey and cheering you on. I am thinking of you and hoping your day goes smoothly.

    Love and hugs and prayers!

  16. You should be about done with your busy day...I'm sorry it couldn't be fun busy. We have thought about you all day as you started this new adventure. When's your next chemo/radiation round? Do you stay at the Ronald McDonald house even when you are going thru your treatments? Tell us how it felt today, we want to ride this rollercoaster with you. How much more different is what you are doing at St Judes then what the dr's wanted you to do in SL? We love you, tell your Momma from us!
